Countless campaigns and projects are going on in India to ban the dowry-system. In the
opposition to this, there’s a website that has been disclosing the dowry rates to be charged
according to the persons’ qualifications and job profiles. Any person can get to know the
exact dowry rate by providing information regarding age, caste, and profession. As soon as,
the Congress Leader Jyotiraditya Scindia came to know about this site, he complained to the
PMO via Twitter.
Jyotiraditya Scindia wrote on Twitter: “I came to know about this site. it is a shame. Let’s
take action against it immediately. Let’s say, the rates for dowry are being fixed on this
website. Starting from IAS to unemployed, every profession is listed over here. In this site,
even unemployed people are being rated for a dowry of 15 lacs.”
On Twitter, People have asked to ban this site. In this website, dowry prices for approx. 17
communities including Brahmin, Kayastha, Bhumihar, Bania, Reddy, Nair, and Kshatriya, etc.
are being revealed. Jyotiraditya Scindia has even asked the Central Women and Child
Development Ministry to take action as well.
